His anger subsided rather quickly, arms crossing together at the sight of the brunette. Expression remained calm, though, Lance felt sympathetic for her. Being separated from the one you loved was painful, and in a way he did feel some blame was on him for taking all of her time. He hated being the reason she was so upset, and he wanted to fix it in a way that worked for both of them.
“Come on, talk to me Skylar. I’m not mad anymore so lets talk normally.”
He clearly didn’t understand- if it was as easy as that she would be over there so much more often. But they were together. That was enough of a reason for her not to do so- she didn’t want to get in the way of them, although that was exactly what she wanted, at the same time. Plus like he had said, they had a child. Her selfishness couldn’t get in the way.
“ It is your fault. She fell in love with you- That’s why she’s not living with us anymore. It’s why I can’t see her as much any more. It’s your fault that it’s not that easy. ”
Lance was so used to blaming himself for everything, but for it to be his fault that Tabitha – the love of his life, fell in love with him? Returning his feelings after an agonizing lifetime of missing her, not knowing if he’d ever see her again, and died before they had a chance to reunite in the same timelines.
“God forbid I’m happy for once.” he mutters harshly under his breath, anger beginning to build up in golden eyes. Deep down, this severely hurt his heart. All Skylar saw him as was a sister stealer. Her words were idiotic and incredibly selfish, and if she was anybody else, the rage of the lion would of already been unleashed.
“You know what? Fine, blame me, blame me ALL you want. It’s always my damn fault. Honestly, I don’t know what she saw in me, i’m a fucking loser. I’m selfish, I know I don’t deserve her.”
“But, after all the suffering and pain I’ve gone through, I know I deserve happiness, and that’s where it lays, with her and no one else. So, better get used to hating me, because i’m not giving her up just to make you happy.”
“ Just think about it! ” Agitated, brows furrowed as dark eyes stared up at the zodiac, the glare surprisingly ineffective at this particular moment as what she could only describe as his ignorance to the matter only served to annoy her further. “ Just stop it. Stop taking her from me- Stop stealing her, and then bringing her up in conversation. I miss her enough already! ”
Seriously? Well then again, her reasoning did make sense. From day one Lance suspected that the brunette particularly didn’t like him for stealing away her big sister, but he wouldn’t apologize for that. He loved her too, so much. “While Tabitha may be your sister, she’s the mother of my child, and soon to be wife whether you like it or not. Its not like I’m keeping you away from her, just call her if you miss her, hell come over even, but don’t blame me.”
How stupid. She didn’t understand how something he had said mere moments before could be gone from his mind so quickly. Of course now she wouldn’t really remember either, but that was besides the point. “ Please. You just said it- You can’t just suddenly not know. ” It really was a petty reason to be upset- but she was on edge, and had been for a while. Him complaining about something, even though it was small, really didn’t bode well for her then.
He raises a brow at the archer looking rather annoyed. Just tell him his mistake because he’s not going to figure it out. Shrugging, the zodiac crosses his arms and glares down at the brunette. “I don’t understand how what I said is supposed to tick you off, just tell me what it is already instead of me aimlessly guessing.” then she’d just get more annoyed at his horrible attempts.
Seeing the other crouch down slightly the worried child took a tiny step back, anxious, and scared in a way. She didn’t know this boy and, although he seemed nice, she wasn’t exactly used to others from outwith home talking to her. Then again, she didn’t exactly get out too much either. Skylar’s eyes widened slightly at the mention of him being lost too- they were both in the same situation. Maybe she could trust him.
She sniffed quietly, looking around before looking back again. His optimism was surprising, given the situation. “ It’s Skylar… ”
It was a tad disheartening to see the little girl step away from him however no grudge was held, it was a scary situation after all. Being separated from your family, not aware of any of your surroundings, and no guidance. Something he could relate too. However, Leo tended to take things personally despite knowing that factor.
His lips curl upward; a smile of assurance forming as the young boy nodded his head in response. “It’s nice to meet you, Skylar. Don’t worry. It’ll be okay. We’ll work together to get out of this mess, alright?”
A quiet voice from another, and the young girl turned. She was already confused, worried, and rather lost in all honesty. She didn’t know what had happened, or why she was there at all- It was all a mystery to her, so that question seemed rather odd to her.
“ Where is this? ” she spoke quietly, looking at the other with a small cough. Cameron had always told her not to talk to people outwith the orphanage, but she was alone, and slightly scared. “ I don’t know where I am… ”
Lance slightly crouched down to be at eye level with the girl, something he’d often do with his younger sister. Judging from her confusion she was lost as well, the same predicament as him. No parents or guardians, just two kids lost together. A sigh escaped the young lion’s lips, golden eyes gazing down at brunette.
“I-I don’t either. I’m lost too.” He could try to do something at least, take the initiative and watch over her for a little while. Next, Leo took the optimistic approach with a smile. “Don’t worry! I’m sure we’ll get through this. I’m Lance, what’s your name?”
It was strange. The young lion couldn’t remember where he was or what he did before this moment. Maybe he zoned out? Yeah, probably. After all he had a tendency to overthink things.
Walking around the unfamiliar area, he noticed another girl around his age wandering alone, although she seemed a little more upset by the fact. Tilting his head in curiosity, he gets closer to the young girl, speaking softly.
“ What the hell do you think?!” Copying his words, the brunette stared up at Lance with a scowl in place, dark eyes glazed slightly as she prevented herself from crying. It hadn’t even been anything too serious, a simple passing comment, but the lack of sleep and recent bout of stress propelled from them had her even more touchy than usual. “ Seriously. You’re such an idiot. ”
“Uh, would I ask if I knew?” his words were blunt, but true. That was the entire reason why he was asking. Staring into her eyes he could tell she was on the verge of holding back tears, but wouldn’t comment on the fact. However, he’d hate to be the reason that she was crying. How conflicting, and she even insulted the lion. “Instead of calling me names, you could tell me what on earth I did wrong, because I honestly don’t know.”
“What the hell is your problem today?” They just busted out into another argument, which is usually typical, except they were never this severe. Being frank, he was getting sick of being yelled at randomly, for no reason at all sometimes.
“ It’s okay to be scared, you know. ” Stepping back over to him, gripping the packet tight in case he was to try to retake it, the girl looked around to meet his gaze with a smile. “ I’m sure that it– She– Will adore you. You’re a great person, Lance. And I know you’ll be a brilliant father. ”
“Everyone keeps saying that, but I don’t know that..” He wasn’t exactly nurtured with love and care, at least not for that long. Even if it was a distant memory by now, there was a time when he was a complete and utter jerk. What if he hurt his daughter like he hurt Skylar? What if he failed to protect her? These thoughts continue to haunt him.
